Mindy Stinnett’s Leadership Drives Trauma Program to Achieve Deficiency-Free Survey

The Blue Mountain Hospital Trauma Program recently underwent a survey from the Oregon Health Authority and not only received deficiency-free results, but was praised for the organization and efficiency within the trauma program – stating Blue Mountain Hospital is a “Model” Level 4 Trauma Center.  The program is typically surveyed every three years based on past results. The survey begins with the submission of various documents & policies to OHA for review, and ends with a site visit from OHA to meet with staff, go over all aspects of the Trauma Program, and ultimately receive the final results.

Kuddos go to Trauma Program Manager, Mindy Stinnett, RN, for her hard work and dedication to the Trauma Program – ensuring every last detail is taken care of to meet compliance standards. With 14 years of experience at Blue Mountain Hospital District, Mindy serves not only as the Trauma Program Manager and Clinical Nurse Educator, but also takes on several other crucial roles within the district. Mindy notes that this couldn’t be accomplished without an extraordinary team. “The dedication of the nursing staff to great patient care, support from administration, and guidance from Dr. Gillian Seton (Trauma Medical Director) are key factors in the success of the Trauma Program.”

As the Trauma Program Manager, Mindy ensures that BMHD provides high-quality trauma care by following OHA trauma regulations. She also helps with staff education, makes sure providers and nurses keep their trauma certifications, oversees chart reviews and performance improvement, and works on community outreach and injury prevention.

In her role as the Clinical Nurse Educator, she helps educate clinical staff to ensure BMHD meets the required credentials to care for patients of all ages and conditions, while following the best practices in the industry.

“Mindy’s presentation was very impressive, the surveyors were wowed. Mindy has gone above and beyond expectations to create this trauma program.” -Debbie Morris, Chief Nursing Officer
Through her dedication to both trauma care and staff education, Mindy plays a key role in ensuring BMHD provides exceptional care to every patient, while continually improving the hospital’s practices and community outreach efforts.
