Frequently Asked Questions

Physical Therapy:

Physical therapy is an individualized, diverse treatment involving hands-on and movement-based activities. Physical therapists use a wide range of techniques to improve the function of muscles, joints, nerves, and movement patterns. The goal of physical therapy is to reduce pain, improve movement and get you back to doing what you love!

After conducting a thorough evaluation, physical therapists coordinate with your physician to get to the root of your symptoms. They work with you to help you reach your goals such as walking, balance, coordination, transfers, pain management, and strength.

Our licensed physical therapists are all Doctors of Physical Therapy and are “movement specialists”, assessing and designing treatment programs to reduce pain, restore movement, and improve your overall health.

Does a health condition currently prevent you from living your life to the fullest? The physical therapists at Blue Mountain Hospital District Rehab Services are ready to team up with you to get you back on track!

Frequently Asked Questions

Occupational Therapy:

Occupational therapy is a holistic treatment aimed at improving your function in everyday activities or “occupations.” The primary goal is to adapt your environment and/or tasks to fit you. Occupational therapists start by evaluating any specific difficulties you may have in everyday tasks. Treatment is focused on maximizing your independence and safety with activities of daily living (ADLs).

ADLs are dressing and grooming, bathing, toileting, and eating. Occupational therapists are also looking at your independent activities of daily living (IADLs), which are managing finances, managing transportation, shopping and meal preparation, house cleaning and maintenance, managing communications, and managing medications.
Does a health condition hold you back from completing a task independently in your everyday life? The occupational therapists at Blue Mountain Hospital District Rehabilitation Services are ready to partner with you to help you live life to the fullest!

Frequently Asked Questions

Speech Therapy:

Speech language pathology is the study of abnormal speech, language, cognition (thinking), and/ or swallowing function. These abnormalities can be caused by a disease, illness, developmental delay, or physical defect. Speech language pathologists are professionally trained to evaluate, diagnose, and treat disordered communication, cognitive impairments, and swallowing problems.

Do you struggle to communicate, limiting participation in day-to-day life? What about difficulty with swallowing or constantly clearing your throat? The speech language pathologist (therapist) at Blue Mountain Hospital District Rehabilitation Services is ready to work side by side with you to improve your abilities.
